Description

We are seeking an experienced Mining Engineer to join our client's team and support the planning, design, and optimisation of open pit mining operations. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective extraction of ore and waste materials while maintaining compliance with environmental and regulatory standards.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimise short-term and long-term mine plans for open pit operations.
  • Design pit layouts, haul roads, waste dumps, and other surface infrastructure.
  • Conduct pit optimisation studies using appropriate mine planning software.
  • Monitor and report on production performance against schedules and budgets.
  • Work closely with geologists, surveyors, and operations teams to coordinate mining activities.
  • Provide technical support for drill and blast design, equipment selection, and material movement.
  • Ensure all mining activities comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and efficiency.
  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.


Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in open pit mining operations
  • Proficiency in mine design and planning software (e.g., Surpac, Vulcan, MineSight, Deswik, or similar).
  • Strong understanding of pit optimisation principles, drill and blast design, and mine scheduling.
  • Solid knowledge of open-pit equipment, operations, and safety practices.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and adapt to changing project requirements.
