We are working alongside our client, who are growing regional firm with over 150+ employees, who specialise in the Transportation & Civil Engineering sectors, and who are looking to hire a Director of Transportation, to be based out of Columbus, Ohio.
This is a key and strategic hire for my client, with this Senior-level role responsible for leadership and oversight of the Transportation practice. This is an opportunity to join a company with a clear and defined career path in place to move into a more senior leadership role.
My client is open to candidates with backgrounds across Transportation verticals including but not limited to Highways, Roads, Bridges, Roundabouts, and other related Transportation Infrastructure projects.

A growing and recognised leader within the Civil Engineering market across multi-disciplinary civil engineering markets, with a very strong presence across multiple states including Ohio.
Our client provides leading & innovative design and planning solutions to large and complex civil infrastructure, transportation, and environmental infrastructure projects.
Location: Columbus, Ohio.
The Role & Responsibilities
This role is an exciting and rare opportunity to join an expanding team and business who are heavily invested in the Civil Engineering, Transportation & Municipal sectors.
As the Director of Transportation, you will be responsible for managing the Transportation practice and ensuring the continued growth of the business. Leveraging your technical skills and experience across the Transportation sectors, you will have the opportunity to oversee and manage the full project lifecycle of Transportation Infrastructure projects.
You will also be responsible for the continued development and mentoring of junior staff members, helping them to achieve their full potential.
As the Director of Transportation, you will also need to identify, develop, and pursue winning business development opportunities, leveraging your existing network and clients to increase the market share of projects with my client.
- Define and oversee the strategic vision for the Transportation practice, with the ability to shape the department for continued success.
- Understand and create solutions to problems, providing technical input and knowledge to evaluate and successfully deliver alternative solutions.
- Manage and oversee a wide portfolio of Transportation Infrastructure projects, ensuring their successful delivery against clients & external stakeholder expectations.
- Navigate and manage project scopes, project schedules, QA/QC, and the engineering coordination of projects.
- Develop and foster a strong working environment.
- Leverage industry contacts and clients within your network to help identify, pursue, and win new projects.
Requirements\Qualifications
- Educated with a Bachelor of Science in a related field.
- P. E Certified.
- Demonstrable experience in the successful delivery of Transportation (Highway, Road, Bridge, Roundabout) related projects in the USA.
- Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of relevant engineering standards and regulations as well as engineering codes.
- Experience working closely with local DOTs and Municipal clients.
- Ability to use software applications including AutoCAD Civil 3D, OpenRoads, MicroStation & MS Office.
