As our client continue to scale, we are looking for a Financial Officer to manage their financial strategy, ensure sound financial management, and support the company’s growth trajectory.
Job Overview:
The Financial Officer will be responsible for overseeing all financial activities within the company, including financial planning, budgeting, accounting, reporting, and compliance. This role requires a deep understanding of both traditional financial practices and the specific challenges faced by a technology-driven company. You will work closely with the executive team to ensure the company’s financial health while driving growth and maximizing profitability in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Strategy & Planning:
- Develop and implement short-term and long-term financial strategies aligned with the company’s objectives.
- Work with the CEO and other senior executives to define financial goals, budgets, and business performance targets.
- Provide financial forecasting, financial modeling, and budgeting processes.
Financial Management & Reporting:
- Oversee day-to-day financial operations, including accounting, payroll, taxes, and financial reporting.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for internal stakeholders and external investors.
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting of financial performance, including revenue, costs, margins, and capital allocation.
- Provide analysis and recommendations to optimize cash flow, manage debt, and ensure capital efficiency.
Compliance & Risk Management:
- Ensure the company’s financial practices comply with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards (e.g., GDPR, PCI-DSS, tax regulations).
- Manage the preparation of tax returns, audits, and financial statements to meet legal and regulatory requirements.
- Identify and mitigate financial and operational risks, particularly in the context of cybersecurity, fraud prevention, and regulatory compliance in the identity verification and bot intelligence space.
- Oversee insurance policies, internal controls, and other risk management procedures.
Capital & Fundraising:
- Support fundraising efforts by managing financial due diligence, investor relations, and pitch materials.
- Help guide the company through funding rounds, mergers, acquisitions, or partnerships, ensuring financial transparency and optimal deal structures.
- Work closely with legal teams to assess and structure funding agreements, including equity, debt, and hybrid models.
Financial Modeling & Data Analysis:
- Develop financial models to support business decisions, including pricing strategies for new product offerings, customer acquisition costs, and customer lifetime value.
- Leverage data analytics to identify cost-saving opportunities and maximize profitability, particularly for subscription-based revenue models or SaaS offerings.
- Analyze performance metrics for different revenue streams and departments, providing actionable insights to the leadership team.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Collaborate with the product and operations teams to align financial goals with technological developments, ensuring effective resource allocation.
- Provide input on financial implications of potential business changes, such as new product launches, geographic expansion, or shifts in business strategy.
- Partner with the sales and marketing teams to evaluate the financial impact of campaigns and customer acquisition strategies.
Team Leadership & Development:
- Lead and manage a growing finance team, providing mentorship and professional development opportunities.
- Foster a culture of accountability, transparency, and financial discipline throughout the company.
Key Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field. A Master’s degree (MBA) or professional certifications such as CPA, CFA, or CMA are highly preferred.
Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in finance, accounting, or financial management, ideally in a technology-driven, SaaS, or FinTech company.
- Experience in managing financial strategy, forecasting, financial reporting, and compliance in high-growth companies.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex financial processes, including capital raising, financial modeling, and risk management in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience in working with financial management tools (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, NetSuite) and data analytics platforms.
Industry Knowledge:
- Experience in the identity verification, fraud prevention, artificial intelligence (AI), or bot intelligence industry is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with financial regulations and compliance standards specific to the tech, AI, or security industries (e.g., GDPR, PCI-DSS).
Technical Skills:
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, financial modeling, and budgeting software.
- Familiarity with AI, machine learning, or bot-driven processes is a plus, especially in terms of understanding how they affect the company’s revenue, costs, and capital allocation.
Soft Skills:
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
- Exceptional problem-solving abilities and analytical thinking.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and handle competing priorities effectively.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience working in or with startups or scale-ups in the technology or SaaS sectors.
